We’ve partnered with GreenStand to enable local women to re-forest their local environment and provide them with vital monthly income.

The woman are paid per tree they keep alive and this income can go towards placing their children in school which is currently a struggle for many families, especially single mothers.

The amazing charity GreenStand, works with local women to encourage trees to be planted. Trees are vital to us all. On a local level they increase rainfall which helps bring water to the local area and also improves water retention, increasing crop productivity. On a wider scale trees help cool the earth and clean the air around us.

How does it work?

The women simply plant a tree, take a photo and receive money in return for their efforts. Every subsequent month that the tree is alive, they receive a payment, meaning that the women are receiving regular income. With enough trees, the income can be used to support the family, or even send a child to school.

How will I contribute to this project?

If Project Plant is part of your volunteering experience, you could:

  1. Help women to plant trees that will bring them income in the future.

  2. Help us educate women on using the GreenStand app to ensure that their income is consistent.

  3. Help start-up projects in new communities, educating them about the project and helping more areas become reforested!

Carbon Sinking

Project Plant also gives you the ability to offset the carbon footprint from your travels. We strive to ensure that every volunteer who embarks on our adventures abroad plants at least 50 trees to off-set your carbon footprint of the whole trip, from your journey to the airport, to your journey back home!
