Your itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Arusha town via Kilimanjaro airport
Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport (and hopefully get your first glimpse of the spectacular Kilimanjaro Mountain) where you’ll meet your safari guide for your adventure with Green Light Ventures. Your guide will ensure you have everything you need for your trip and will give you a warm welcome. They will brief you about the country and culture and give an insight into some of the amazing wildlife you can expect to see. You will then be taken to your Lodge near Arusha town. The Hotel Lodge is situated in a cool coffee plantation on the slopes of Mt Meru offering fantastic facilities with attractive grounds and some of the best coffee in Tanzania.
Day 2 Safari in Tarangire National Park
Early in the morning after a great coffee and delicious breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and head straight to the Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park is home to herds of Elephant families and the land of the baobab tree. This park has a permeant water source meaning you can visit all year round while spotting a large diversity of different mammal, reptile, and bird life. You’re guaranteed to see many elephants, zebra, buffalo, gazelle, wildebeest, impala, warthog, giraffe, and ostrich with a good chance also to spot lion, cheetah, leopard, mongoose, and many more.
You will be provided with a delicious Tanzanian-style hamper for lunch with a great view of the river so as to continue the wildlife spotting even when stopping for lunch. There is also the opportunity to stop off at a hotel with an incredible view and enjoy a cold beer or G & T. Late afternoon, you’ll travel to a beautiful resort on the top of the Great Rift Valley escarpment with more breath-taking views, this time of Lake Manyara, and why not enjoy this view from the resort’s infinity pool? The resort has a welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere with grand dining halls, various bars, and a fanatic menu of local and world cuisine. This resort is GLV’s No.1 top choice on Safari.
Day 2 Safari in Ngorongoro Crater
Early in the morning, you will be picked up by your guide and head straight to the Ngorongoro crater. Ngorongoro Crater was voted one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World in 2013. Once you’ve gazed at the sheer spectacle of the largest intact caldera in the world you can understand why. A crater formed by a volcanic eruption millions of years ago gives life to a wildlife paradise where dense populations of large mammals have entered and never found a reason to leave. Here it’s possible to spot the endangered Black Rhino where only 5000 are left in existence.
Home to flamingos, lions, elephants, leopards, serval, hyenas, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, hippo, ostrich, monkey, baboon, gazelle, crowned crane, and antelope, there is a huge diversity of species to view. Not only the animal life, but the geography is like no other with the crater rim giving a wonderful panoramic view at all times encompassing a number of different ecological zones, including acacia woodland, forest, grassland plains, lakes, and craggy outcrops. You will spend the day in the crater watching the wildlife and enjoy a packed lunch next to the Hippo pools! Late afternoon, you will drive into the Serengeti National Park where you’ll stay in overnight luxury accommodation within the national park. In the evening you can listen to the wild African sounds and gaze into the starry night sky.
Day 3 Safari in the Serengeti
Today you will spend your time in Serengeti National Park tracking down some of the greatest animals to walk the earth. Truly one of the best locations on the planet to watch wildlife and see a huge variety and number of animals. Serengeti National Park has nearly 15,000 km sq of plains, teeming with animal life that will not disappoint! On this ultimate safari experience, you’d be unlucky not to spot the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Water Buffalo, Elephant) and there’ll be no shortage of action for you to see. Tonight you will stay in the Serengeti National Park in a spectacular hotel viewing animals passing by while cooling off in the pool with a cold drink in your hand.
Day 4 Serengeti cont.
Spend the best part of the day adding to your animal list and by now you hopefully will have ticked off the Big Five (Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino) along with a large list of other animals including cheetah, giraffe, gazelle, wildebeest, crocodile, and 100s of bird and reptile species. On the journey back to your accommodation you will have the option of visiting a traditional Maasai village and learning about the culture of these amazing people. For your last night with us, you’ll head back to our No. 1 choice of hotels as we know you’ll love it as much as we do and will be keen to revisit it while reminiscing over the incredible adventure you’ve just been on.
Day 5 Relax and enjoy
Enjoy a slow start to the day taking in the views over breakfast and making the most of the hotel’s superb facilities before heading out. On the journey back to your next destination you will have the option of visiting a traditional Maasai village and learning about the culture of these amazing people.
